Lottie Cansdale, President

Lottie, a.k.a ‘Madame le President,’ has a deep desire to see God’s justice and is so excited to equip students to play their part in bringing it. She’s a medic at St Hilda’s who is particularly interested in sexism in healthcare – she’s excited to see every girl recognised as valuable and treasured by God, and for that to be reflected in healthcare provision.

She is an avid runner (at unnaturally early hours), is known for wearing brightly coloured clothes and wishes she could eat breakfast every meal of the day.

Get in touch with Lottie if you want to find out about what Just Love does, or if you’ve got an idea for an event/project/area we’re not currently involved in. Click here to drop her an email (she loves admin!).

David Elliott, Vice President

David, the Vice President, coordinates communication with local churches and other organisations in Oxford, as well as working with Lottie in setting the overall vision for Just Love Oxford.

Aside from writing History essays at Lincoln, he loves thinking deeply about how we faithfully pursue justice in recognition of Christ’s Lordship over all aspects of life. He imagines himself to lead a double life as a jazz musician with excellent drum and guitar skills whilst saving the city at night scouring the streets as a Marvel superhero.

Feel free to get in touch with David here if you’re from a church or Christian organisation that wants to find out more and connect with us.

Toby Lowther, Events Coordinator

Toby Lowther, Events Coordinator

Toby organises the regular Just Lunch and Just Dinner events. His heart is for how Biblical justice speaks to issues of persecution, sexism, and systemic inequality. He’s studying Philosophy & Linguistics at University College, and can rarely be quiet about either half of his degree.

A fan of stories and legend, Toby spends his spare time reading books of folklore, fantasy and sci-fi, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and creating fictional worlds. He loves language, words and word-play, and has a slight artistic bent – playing guitar, attempting to sing (with little success), and sketching.

Email Toby if you have a topic for a Just Lunch/Dinner on your heart or if you’re involved in planning one!

Esthy Hung, Homeless Outreach Coordinator

Esthy (pronounced Es-Tee) is our Homeless Outreach Coordinator. She is driven by a broken-heart for poverty, which is dramatically visible in Oxford. She oversees and organises the teams that spend time developing relationship with our friends on the streets over hot drinks and snacks.

Her personal experiences have set her heart on fire for the often-invisible communities who suffer from mental health difficulties and disability, and the way this intersects with poverty.

She’s a pro figure-skater but keeps it on the down-low – the only thing colder than the rink she skates on is her icy humour. She’s the only person we know who could pull off green dip dyed hair and a sushi-sweater. Chat to her more here.

Anna Spence, Human Trafficking Action Group Coordinator

Anna Spence, Human Trafficking Action Group Coordinator

Anna runs HTAG, organising weekly meetings to discuss and plan events campaigning against human trafficking, and wants to see God’s goodness triumph in this area of deep injustice. She thinks fostering and adopting are two of the most wonderful things someone can do.

She has a wicked sense of humour, absolutely loves the north, and gets nicknamed Spanna – but is rarely as useful.

Contact Anna here if you’re interested in finding out more about HTAG or if you’d like to get involved: she’d love to have you on board!

Luke Jelleyman, Publicity Coordinator

Luke is our publicity man, focussing on the presentation and marketing of all our events. He is passionate about the impact of natural-resource exploitation in the developing world, especially that caused by the fast-fashion industry. This makes him a frequent (and very loud) member of HTAG alongside exec committee!

Despite growing up in London, Luke has rebelliously fallen in love with the natural world, which fuels his road-cycling and landscape-photography passions (follow his Instagram to see for yourself). He fills his sparse leftover-time with a geography degree at St Hilda’s, where demolition-induced-deforestation has been a source of sustained-suffering!

If you’d like to get involved with the publicity of Just Love, click here to drop Luke an email.

Matthew Judson, Secretary and Treasurer

Matthew Judson, Secretary and Treasurer

Matthew is our chief bureaucrat™. He minutes meetings, curates this website, and guards access to the bank card.

He is extremely proud to (sort of) come from Luton, fairly proud to study PPE and not especially proud to support Arsenal FC. He has a somewhat insufferable tendency to rant about the sorry state of Brexit or the structural flaws of capitalism. His borderline obsession with student politics has led him to various roles in LMH JCR and in Oxford SU. If you can’t spot him in the library, try the croquet lawn or the darts oche.

Contact Matthew if you’d like to write a blog or if you have any suggestions for the website!
